07 Jul We Can Live Like Jack And Sally If We Want

Our jaws instantly dropped when Justin and Lindsay’s wedding popped up in our inbox. The black Vera Wang dress, the long and winding elegant staircases, with the wonderfully dark and occult touches instantly captured our hearts and our intrigue. This lovely couple’s wedding was nothing short of a beautifully gothic fairytale. A fairtyale which started at a mutual friends’ birthday party near an abandoned zoo. Sipping sangria on picnic blankets they caught each others eye but neither one said a word and sadly departed in silence…until the algorithms of life brought them together again months later.

For a couple whose relationship was rooted in mythical lore, 30’s vinyl and gold daggers it was only natural that their venue be just as fitting of their unique style. They exchanged their vows under the towering 18-karat gold altar at The Mission Inn Hotel, an old word European style mansion-castle on Halloween. It is a place where history, grandeur, and inspiration are found around every corner, as well as the ghosts of famous past visitors such as Harry Houdini, Bette Davis, Clark Gable and JFK.

The bride entered the gothic archway wearing a stunning black Vera Wang gown while a billowing fog train encircled her as she made her way to the joyful groom. The guests were guided through the ceremony by the fate of the exquisitely designed tarot card programs and into the reception staged in a Spanish style art gallery. As the guests took their handcrafted potions to find their seats, the newlyweds grand entrance was delivered by clips from the legendary ghost host of Disney’s Haunted Mansion and the classic Dracula theme of Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.

The bride and groom cut the anatomical bleeding heart cake together in traditional fashion and danced like Bowie to black & white flickering Halloween cartoons from the 1920’s. The happy couple infected all with their maniacal love, their luscious laughter, and the core essence of who they are which shone through everything that brought their big day together. Under the warm glow of candlelit apothecary bottles, oversized glass bell jars and plenty of black calla lilies they left all their guests, and us, wishing for more.

I was there, it was beautiful and different. Very fitting for this couple. Perfect in every way, unique and elements of traditional grandeur of a Wedding blended with this non-traditional couples style. Loved being part of this couples start as two becoming one. #Fun #Fun #Fun
